Telematics: Incentivizing Safe Driving & Reducing Crashes

How Real-World Driving Data and Behavioral Insights Improve Safety

Safe driving isn’t just shaped by laws or enforcement — it’s shaped by what drivers actually do behind the wheel. Telematics gives us a clearer window into those real-world behaviors and allows us to understand, measure, and improve them in ways traditional approaches can’t.

In this webinar, experts will explain what telematics is, how it works, and why it has become a powerful tool for reducing crashes. We’ll connect the dots between data, behavior, and motivation — showing how telematics can reveal risky patterns, support better coaching, and inform effective incentive structures that encourage safer choices on the road.

You’ll learn:

  • What telematics measures and why it matters for understanding driver risk

  • How behavioral incentives and digital feedback loops influence safer decision-making

  • Real examples where telematics programs reduced phone distraction, speeding, and other crash-related behaviors

  • How communities, insurers, policymakers, and safety advocates are using telematics data to improve roadway outcomes

Whether you’re new to telematics or looking to understand how it intersects with behavioral science and safety incentives, this session will provide a practical, evidence-based foundation you can apply across transportation, healthcare, policy, education, and community outreach.
